Cool Climate Analytical Launches Midwest's First Commercial Wine Lab

COOL CLIMATE ANALYTICAL LAUNCHES MIDWEST’S FIRST COMMERCIAL WINE LAB Adrian, Michigan -- Midwest growers and wineries now have an alternative to California labs for time-sensitive analyses and diagnostic services. Cool Climate Analytical (CCA), located in Southeast Michigan, has established the Midwest’s first commercial wine laboratory. “Our growing conditions are much different than those on the west coast, thus our winemaking concerns are as well,” says Jon Treloar, CCA’s Chief Enologist and co-owner. “Having quick access to a lab with regional expertise gives Midwest and Eastern wineries the opportunity to make better wines. That’s important to us because, as a company, we are committed to advancing the quality and renown of cool climate winemaking.” CCA combines winemaking expertise with technology to deliver analytical results to its customers in 36 hours or less from the receipt of fruit, must, juice, or wine samples. The company’s extensive analytical capabilities are made possible by its investment in state-of-the-art equipment such as the Konelab 20, used for auto sequential Enzymatic/Spectrophotometric analyses. “The Konelab 20 gives us analytical capabilities with consistent accuracy and rapid turnaround,” explains Dr. Paul Rupert, CCA’s Manager of Laboratory Operations and co-owner. “These capabilities will be especially important to our customers during the time-sensitive harvest and crush seasons.” From its offices in Southeast Michigan, Cool Climate Analytical is ideally situated to serve wineries located in the Midwest and East. CCA analytical services are confidential and are available to commercial growers and wineries as well as non-commercial and home winemakers. CCA offers analytical panels for each stage of the winemaking process as well as individual analyses of the major organic acids, sugars, sulfites and other compounds of interest. In addition, CCA offers microbiological screening and diagnostic services. Brief diagnostic perspectives are offered with the analytical data upon request. When there is a need for in-depth discussions and problem solving, CCA personnel are available for discussions on winemaking practices, CCA Launches Midwest’s First Commercial Wine Lab Page 2 fermentation management, laboratory set up and training on a consulting basis.
